Details of Streptoverticillium structures as detected by scanning electron microscopy are illustrated. The development of species belonging to the genus has been followed from germination to spore production. Sporulating features of pseudoverticillate cultures have also been observed. The peculiar characteristics of spore formation, which includes an initial twisting of the sporulating hypha, are documented.

Co-culturing of Marine and Terrestrial Actinomycetesto Obtain Novel Secondary Metabolites
Co-culturing of actinomycetes is a classical approach used to enhance bioactivity. In this study, co-culturing of terrestrial and marine actinomycetes was performed to obtain increased anticancer cytotoxic activity. Crude extract prepared from co-cultured isolates showed increased anticancer activity. Although normal and healthy actinomycetes filament was observed during co-culture, spore forma...
متن کاملIsolation and Characterization of Marine Antagonistic Actinomycetes from West Coast of India
A total of 173 actinomycetes colonies were isolated from near shore marine environment and mangrove ecosystem at 8 different locations of Kerala, West Coast of India. Among them, 64 isolates were morphologically distinct on the basis of spore mass colour, reverse side colour, aerial and substrate mycelia formation and production of diffusible pigment. The majority (47%; n=30) of these isolates ...
متن کاملSsgA-like proteins determine the fate of peptidoglycan during sporulation of Streptomyces coelicolor.
During developmental cell division in sporulation-committed aerial hyphae of streptomycetes, up to a hundred septa are simultaneously produced, in close harmony with synchromous chromosome condensation and segregation. Several unique protein families are involved in the control of this process in actinomycetes, including that of the SsgA-like proteins (SALPs). Mutants for each of the individual...

Background and Aim: Human cutaneous infections are caused by a homogeneous group of kreatinophilic fungi, called Dermatophytes. Such infections are accounted as a principle public health, at present. Microsporum gypseum a cause of baldness in Iran. Cases occur sporadically due to Microsporum gypseum in puppies and soil and is transmitted to humans. Since these pathogenic dermatophytes are eukar...
متن کاملOn the Classification of Actinomycetes.
The exact position of the actinomycetes or ray-fungi in the kingdom of lower forms of life has attracted considerable attention and has been a subject of much speculation. These organisms have been classified as bacteria, as fungi, and as a special group, either derived from one of the above or giving rise to both. With the accumulated knowledge concerning the morphology of the actinomycetes, i...
